Marianne Bachmeier, whose seven-year-old daughter Anna had been murdered, attended the trial of the accused, Klaus Grabowski. During the proceedings, Bachmeier brought a concealed pistol into the courtroom and fired it at Grabowski, killing him. Following the shooting, Bachmeier was arrested and later stood trial for murder. She was ultimately convicted of the lesser charge
