Russia unleashed a massive wave of drone strikes on Wednesday night, killing 19 and injuring at least 139 people. Vladimir Putin 's troops battered Ukraine 's industrial city of Zaporizhzhia in a brutal airstrike overnight. Up to 70 Iranian-made drones and other weapons were deployed in the attack, Ukraine 's Air Force reported.

Russian attacks across Ukraine killed at least 19 civilians and injured at least 132 over the past day, regional authorities said on Jan. 9, with most of the casualties reported following an airstrike on Zaporizhzhia.

Months after losing ground, Ukraine recently launched a counterattack in the Kursk region, combatting Russian forces.
