The leaders of both Canada and Mexico got on the phone with President Donald Trump this past week to seek solutions after he slapped tariffs on their countries, but China’s president appears unlikely to make a similar call soon.

The nation’s top three trading partners are rolling out levies on a wide range of products, including soybeans, meat and grains, in the escalating trade war.

Beijing: China has slapped additional duties of 10 to 15 per cent on American chicken, corn, soybeans, pork, dairy, and other agricultural products, firing back at US President Donald Trump’s latest salvo in his tariff war.

Earlier this week, the Trump administration imposed across-the-board 25% tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico.
