What has turned out to be a splendid spring weekend for Southeast Texas may soon turn into a dreary week with possible thunderstorms and heavy rain. In other parts of Texas, strong to severe storms are in play early in the workweek.

April came and went with well below average rainfall across Southeast Texas, but we're already getting back on track in the month of May. Houston recorded 1.18 inches of rain from May 1-3, with the majority of that falling on Friday evening.

Along with the severe threat, more than 3" of rain is possible, so localized flooding will also be a concern through the evening.
