A 7.7 magnitude earthquake rattled much of Southeast Asia on Friday, flattening skyscrapers and leaving more than 1,000 people dead from Myanmar to Thailand.

The death toll from the massive earthquake that hit Myanmar nearly a week ago rose Thursday to 3,085 as more bodies were found by search and rescue teams, the military-led government said. In a short statement, the military said another 4,715 people have been injured and 341 are missing.

International rescue teams have started returning home as rescue efforts from the March 28 earthquake have started winding down and the focus turns to recovery for the millions of people impacted.
