The foreign ministers of India and China met in New Delhi on Monday in a renewed effort by the nuclear-armed Asian rivals to ease tensions after a five-year border standoff significantly hurt relations.
The Chinese statement comes after S Jaishankar and Wang Yi on Monday discussed border peace, trade issues and bilateral exchanges.
During talks with S Jaishankar, Wang Yi said relations between China and India are on a "positive trend" towards cooperation.
There is an upward trend in India-China relations and Beijing has promised to address New Delhi's needs on rare earths, a top Indian official and a source said on Tuesday, as the neighbours rebuild ties that were damaged by a 2020 border clash.
