ELMONT, N. Y. -- Jason Robertson scored a hat trick in the span of 8:40 in the second period, and the Dallas Stars held off the New York Islanders for a 4-3 win at UBS Arena on Sunday. The hat trick was Robertson’s first of the season and fourth in the NHL.

Jason Robertson completed a hat trick within nine minutes of the second period Sunday night for the surging Dallas Stars, who knocked off the New York Islanders 4-3 in Elmont, N.Y.

NEW YORK — Jason Robertson’s third career hat trick lifted the Dallas Stars past the New York Islanders 4-3 on Sunday night for their third straight victory. With Robertson’s second-period hat trick he became the first player to score three goals in a period since Jamie Benn on Apr. 7, 2018.

The New York Islanders (25-24-7) lost their third straight game as the Dallas Stars (37-18-2) utilized a Casey Cizikas major penalty to storm past New York in the second period.

COLUMBUS -- Kirill Marchenko had two goals and an assist for the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 6-4 win against the Dallas Stars at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday. Ivan Provorov and Adam Fantilli each had a goal and an assist, and Dmitri Voronkov had two assists for the Blue Jackets (28-22-8), who have won two straight. Elvis Merzlikins made 18 saves.
