President Donald Trump's announcement of 30% tariffs on the European Union will have repercussions for companies and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic.

EU leaders condemned US President Trump's surprise tariffs on EU exports, warning of inflation, disrupted supply chains, and economic fallout. Officials promised proportionate countermeasures if negotiations with Washington fail.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that there needed to be a “genuine rebalancing” in the China-Europe relationship.

The president also decided to send out letters as a way to keep the pressure up.
