These days Tommy John surgery comes with a 14-18 month rehab. The surgery ends Burnes' 2025 season, his first in Arizona, and will cut into his 2026 as well.

Given that Tommy John surgery usually requires 14 to 18 months of recovery time, Burnes is definitely out for the rest of 2025. A return in late in 2026 is possible but can’t be guaranteed.
