In a statement, Doctor Who showrunner, executive producer, and writer Russell T Davies said, "Only Alan Cumming could give a runaway cartoon so much wit, malice, danger and fun. He makes the whole universe of Doctor Who wilder and madder than ever, and it's an absolute honour to welcome him on board the TARDIS."

Belinda, the latest companion to join the Doctor on his adventures, will be played by Varada Sethu, who previously portrayed Mundy Flynn in the previous season's episode "Boom." Millie Gibson is also returning as Ruby Sunday, the companion from Gatwa's first season.

Disney+ and BBC have revealed when Doctor Who returns for its second season, sharing new posters and a first look at an animated character, Mr Ring-a-Ding, played by X2: X-Men United star Alan Cumming.

Disney Branded Television and the BBC have jointly announced that season two of “ Doctor Who ” will premiere Saturday, April 12 (12:00 a.m. PDT / 3:00 a.m. EDT) on Disney+, where available, and exclusively on the BBC and BBC iPlayer in the UK. New episodes from the eight-part season will premiere weekly.

Alongside the release date announcement, it's been confirmed that Alan Cumming will return to the Whoniverse, this time as cartoon character Mr Ring-a-Ding, who we saw clawing his way out of a cinema screen in the season 15 trailer.

Ncuti Gatwa’s version of the Doctor will be back pretty soon. Disney Plus and the BBC announced that the next season of Doctor Who will start streaming on April 12th, with new episodes dropping weekly.
