If Borrego lands the Knicks job, it would begin his second stint as a full-time head coach. He served a four-year tenure from 2018-22 with the Charlotte Hornets and went 138-163, missing the playoffs in each of those four seasons.

The New York Knicks moved on from head coach Tom Thibodeau after the team was eliminated in the Eastern Conference finals by the Indiana Pacers. Since Thibodeau's departure, the organization has been linked with various potential replacements, a number of whom they've been turned down in their attempt to interview.

The New York Knicks now have their fourth interview set up as they continue to search for a new head coach. According to The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III, New York will interview former Charlotte Hornets head coach and current New Orleans Pelicans assistant James Borrego for their open head coaching position.
